Every Frequensea design begins with a real place, memory or feeling — the kind that stays with you long after you’ve left.
Our founder, Kimberly, grew up moving along the East Coast as the daughter of a Naval Officer, and that connection to the coast — and to the places that come to feel like part of us — became the heart of Frequensea.
Some of our designs map the coastlines people know by heart. Others capture the little things that can bring a place rushing back — the smell of marsh grass coming over the bridge, a familiar highway sign that means you’re almost there, or a song that instantly puts you back in another summer.
We create pieces for people who feel that pull — because sometimes a place isn’t just somewhere you’ve been. It becomes part of who you are.
Coastal Maps, Coastal Archive, and Signature tees
A soft, lightweight unisex fit. True to size through the shoulders and chest, cut a little longer and narrower through the hips. If you're between sizes or curvier through the hips, size up. For a roomier or oversized look, size up one or two.
Harbor Drift tees and all long sleeves
Heavier garment-dyed cotton with a more structured feel and less stretch. True to size. If you like a looser fit, size up one.
Hoodies
Heavyweight and generously cut, with extra length. Most people stay with their normal size. If you're petite or shorter through the torso, expect them to sit long.
Sun shirts
Loose and relaxed, not a fitted rash guard. They run large, so for a closer fit, size down one.

Each design maps an entire stretch of coastline. No single point on land could stand for the whole of it. So the coordinates sit just off the beach, in the water that every town along the shore looks out on. They mark the heart of the place, not one exact address. Look them up and you'll find them right where they belong, nestled just offshore from the coast you love.
Every Frequensea map starts with a place and a vision — what to include, what to leave out, how the coastline should be interpreted, and above all, how the finished piece should feel.
We begin by studying real geographic reference material and choosing those that best capture the coast we want to represent. From there, we make the creative decisions that shape the map — where its boundaries should fall, which waterways and geographic details matter, what should be simplified, and how much detail belongs in the final design.
As part of developing the initial coastline linework, we use AI-assisted design tools to help translate those geographic references and creative decisions into early versions of the coastline. Each version is then guided and refined by our Creative Director — adjusting boundaries, detail, line weight and geographic features until the coastline reflects the vision for that particular place.
From there, we bring the linework into our design software and rework it extensively — cleaning it to pure white lines, removing unwanted shading and detail, simplifying or strengthening individual lines, and adding linework where needed. We scale, angle and compose the map, then manually add the labels, typography, towns, beaches and other location details. Our signature Frequensea compass rose is placed individually on every map, wherever it best balances the design.
Our maps aren’t intended to be technical or navigational, but rather artistic interpretations of places people feel drawn to — made to hold the memory, energy and feeling of being there.

We use direct-to-garment (DTG) printing, done in the US. The ink bonds directly into the fabric, so the detail in our nautical maps stays crisp and the colors stay true — wash after wash.
With proper care, no. DTG prints are durable, but they last longest when washed inside out in cold water and tumble dried on low. Treat it right and it'll hold up for years.

Frequensea is based in North Carolina. Our products are designed by us and printed/shipped through trusted production partners in the United States. Because most items are made to order, shipping times may vary slightly by item.
Right now we ship within the US only. International shipping is on our roadmap — stay tuned.
